Gardening Classes at Tolay Lake, "Grateful Bed" contest

VegetablesRegional Parks is teaming up with iGROW again to offer specialty gardening workshops at Tolay Lake Regional Park this summer for both beginning and experienced growers. At these classes, you can learn about intercropping, seeds and transplants, sustainable gardening and weed management. We’re also partnering with iGROW this summer to host the first-ever “Grateful Bed” garden competition and tour. This friendly contest is designed to showcase the value, creativity and ingenuity that can be found in public gardens. Prizes will go to the best beds in various categories, and gardeners are encouraged to participate as part of this weekend’s 350 Home & Garden Challenge.

PastaPalooza Thanks

Pasta PaloozaThank you for supporting PastaPalooza, the April 28th parks fundraiser hosted by the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation. The sold-out party raised more than $40,000 in its inaugural effort to help Annadel State Park and the Regional Parks. More than 500 park lovers gathered at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building to enjoy food, drinks, live music and a silent auction. With such a successful first-time event, the Parks Foundation board is already looking ahead to 2013! Many thanks to all who turned out and to businesses like Pasta King and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly for their generous donations.

Grab your picnic blankets for Park-n-Eat!

Parks Celebration Don’t worry about cooking dinner on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Instead, head out to Spring Lake or Ragle Ranch for Park-n-Eat. Local food trucks will be in the parks from 4 p.m. to dusk each Tuesday and Thursday through the summer, so come out after work, take a walk, unwind and enjoy an al fresco dinner. Not only is this an opportunity to get outside and try something new, it's a great-tasting way to help the parks. Each food truck will donate a portion of its sales to the Parks Foundation to support park programs and operations. Visit the Park-n-Eat Sonoma County Facebook page for their weekly schedules.
